CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS

PROPOSAL: The property is improved with a "B" rated Victorian Italianate style structure per
the Tustin Historical Resources Survey. The existing home was relocated to its
current location from 640 West First Street. The property is located within the
Cultural Resource District. The proposed project involves restoration of dentil
molding on the exterior of the existing house.
In accordance with Ordinance No. 1001 which was adopted June 20, 1988, by the Tustin City
Council, the Community Development Director has the authority to approve, approve with conditions,
or deny Certificates of Appropriateness for improvements requiring a City building permit for property
located within a Cultural Resource District. Although the proposed work does not require a building
permit, this Certificate of Appropriateness is issued upon request.
The Community Development Department finds and determines as follows:
A. The proposed work will not detrimentally alter, destroy or adversely affect the resource, and is
compatible with the existing structure. The existing structure provides evidence of prior use of
dentil molding and the proposed work will. restore this architectural feature.
B. The proposed modification will retain the essential elements which make the structure, site or
feature culturally significant in that the proposed work adds additional architectural features
and details that will enhance the elements of the structure. The proposed restoration of dentil
molding is consistent with the architecture and style of the existing home.
The proposed work is hereby approved, subject to the following conditions:
1. Any replacement or repair of any part of existing structure shall match the existing exterior
materials, finish, and colors of the existing structure. The dentil molding shall be painted to
match the existing trim.
