Approven ny .__ Date: �— Widow's Walk Railing for 415 W 6rh Street, Tustin Page 2 y Description of Work The project is to provide screening to the edge of the solar panels in a way that restores the "widow's walk" railing that once existed on the roof structure. The railing will be a prefabricated railing to outline the edge of the restored widow's walk area that was restored in 2011. The railing will be of minimal height not exceeding 9", to avoid shading the solar panels that are on a portion of the widow's walk area. The railing may be screwed to the roof substructure or attached to the brackets that hold the solar panels to the roof. The effort will continue restoration of an original feature of the home. One might ask: What's a widow's walk? The actual facts concerning widow's walks are far more prosaic... The rear views and side views with no solar panels may be left open, as determined by owner. It is intended to attach the railing to the existing solar panel mounting system; otherwise it will be secured with screws to the roof. The height of the railing cannot exceed 8" or 9" since the solar panels are a minimum of 6 inches away from the front and side edges of the widow's walk area.
