HUSTON, CITY MANAGER FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS - PAVEMENT REHABILITATION OF JAMBOREE ROAD FROM 1350 FEET NORTH OF TUSTIN RANCH ROAD TO 2750 FEET NORTH OF TUSTIN RANCH ROAD (CIP NO. 7171) SUMMARY This project will provide for the pavement rehabilitation of Jamboree Road from 1350 feet north of Tustin Ranch Road to 2750 feet north of Tustin Ranch Road. The plans and specifications are now complete and are ready for City Council approval and authorization to advertise for bids. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council adopt Resolution No. 01-50 approving the plans and specifications for the pavement rehabilitation of Jamboree Road from 1350 feet north of Tustin Ranch Road to 2750 feet north of Tustin Ranch Road (CIP No. 7171), and authorizing and directing the City Clerk to advertise for bids. FISCAL IMPACT The engineer's estimate for this project is $1,070,000 and will be funded through the City's Capital Improvement Program Budget, AB-2928 Funds and OCTA's Arterial Highway Rehabilitation Program (AHRP). BACKGROUND The Jamboree Road Pavement Rehabilitation Project will provide for the removal of existing failing pavement, construction of roadway base, asphalt concrete finished surface, and traffic striping. Additionally, edge drains will be installed to collect subsurface water to prevent pavement deterioration. This project is needed to repair significant pavement failure in this stretch of roadway. Competitive funds were secured through an OCTA grant program (AHRP) to cover a portion of the construction cost for this project.
