REVISION TO THE CITY'S CLASSIFICATION AND COMPENSATION PLANS
SUMMARY:
This agenda item recommends amending the City's Classification and Compensations Plans by
adding one allocation for the classification of Assistant Director of Community Development and
eliminating one allocation for the classification of Principal Planner.
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Resolution 04-87 amending the City's Classification and Compensation Plans.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approximately $9,200 this fiscal year.
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION:
Pursuant to the City's Personnel Rules and Regulations, the City is required to maintain both
Classification and Compensation Plans covering all classes of positions in the City service. As
various needs arise staff makes recommendations for changes to these plans.
Consistent with current practice, staff requests approval from the City Council to amend our
Classification and Compensation Plans as follows:

The funding for the differential in salary for this position can be covered through salary savings
achieved thus far this fiscal year Approval of this agenda item simply amends our Classification
and Compensation Plans so that we may staff at a level that meets the City's current and future
operational requirements.

RESOLUTION NO. 04-87
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN,
CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE CITY'S CLASSIFICATION PLAN
WHEREAS, the City adopted a Classification Plan in 1984 by
adopting Resolution No. 84-63; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has amended its Classification and
Compensation Plans when appropriate;
WHEREAS, it is now desirable to revise and update the City's
Classification Plan;
WHEREAS, the City now desires to amend its Classification Plan
by adding an Assistant Director of Community Development and
eliminating a Principal Planner classification.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Tustin,
California does hereby resolve that the Classification and Compensation
Plans of the City of Tustin, dated August 20,1984, as previously
amended, is hereby amended.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Tustin City Council
held on the 4th day of October, 2004.
