HUSTON, CITY MANAGER PATRICK SANCHEZ, DIRECTOR, PARKS & RECREATION SERVICES SUBJECT: PRESENTATION - NATIONAL RECREATION & PARK ASSOCIATION RECOGNITION OF PIONEER ROAD PARK DESIGN SUMMARY The National Recreation & Park Association presented to the City of Tustin at their recent Congress and Exposition on October 15, 2004, a small cities park design award for Pioneer Road Park. RECOMMENDATION Receive and file. BACKGROUND Pioneer Road Park was completed in the summer of 2004 and has received recognition from the National Recreation and Park Association. At the recent NRPA Congress and Exposition, the City of Tustin received the Small Cities Award for Park Design for Pioneer Road Park. The Design is titled "America's Adventure Place Design Award." This award was presented to nine cities nationwide for outstanding park design in cities with populations less than 100,000. A member of the Parks and Recreation Commission will present the award to the City Council.
