THIRD DISTRICT Page 5 Public Safety –Crime Rates Up •OC Crime Statistics •Overall crime rate in OC up +20% since 2014 •Largest spike in more than a decade •Violent Crimes up +15% •Property Crimes up +20% •Tustin: Violent Crime rose 15% between 2011-2016 Property Crime rose 11% over same period •OC Auto Theft rose 40.44% between 2011-2016 THIRD DISTRICT Page 6 Public Safety –Fire Emergency •Canyon Fires •Residents deserve sympathy, support and thorough account of all procedures in the effort to fight the fires. •Independent Investigation: Examining response time. •Ensure public safety, correct any mistakes, and restore public confidence. THIRD DISTRICT Page 7 JWA/FAA Flight Pattern Settlement •JWA Flight Pattern Agreement •Settlement of legal objections by the County of Orange, along with the City of Newport Beach, against the Federal Aviation Administration, to prevent flight pattern variations around John Wayne Airport is a significant victory for the residents of Orange County.
