SUBJECT:
AWARD OF BID FOR FRONTIER PARK PLAY EQUIPMENT
SUMMARY:
The bid opening for replacement of Frontier Park Play Equipment was held on June 6, 2001. City Council
is requested to award the bid to Casron Services Company in the amount of $56,801.
RECOMMENDATION:
Award the contract for Frontier Park Play Equipment to Casron Services Company in the amount of
$56,801 subject to approval of contract requirements by the City Attorney and execution by the City
Manager.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Replacement of Frontier Park Play Equipment is being provided through an allocation of $71,542 from the
2000/2001 Community Development Block Grant program (21-999-9530-2047) for Frontier Park Phase I1.
The contract amount is within the estimated project budget.
BACKGROUND:
The scope of work includes the removal and disposal of existing play equipment at Frontier Park and
installation of new equipment. The Parks and Recreation Commission selected new equipment that has a
frontier theme and includes a curved climbing net wall. At the City Council Meeting on April 16, 2001
Plans & Specifications and Authorization to Advertise for Bids for Frontier Park Play Equipment were
approved.
SUMMARY:
Sealed bids were opened on June 6, 2001; six bids were received. The bids were as follows:

A reference check of the contractor, a review of the bid documents and a determination that the
contractor possesses a valid contractor's license have been completed. The Risk Manager will complete
a r ' w of the required bonds and insurance certificates. Construction should be completed by August.
