PLANNING COMMISSION WORKSHOPS
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Commission provide input to staff regarding future workshop topics.
DISCUSSION:
The Planning Commission requested that staff provide various workshop opportunities.
Since 2001, the Community Development Department has presented informational
workshops to the Planning Commission on the following:
01/08/01 :
Brown Act, Conducting Public Hearings, and Deed Restrictions
02/26/01 :
Driveway Standards, General Plans, and Specific Plans
04/23/01 :
Redevelopment Law and Redevelopment Agency Activities
06/11/01 :
California Environmental Quality Act
07/23/01 :
Cultural Resources Overlay District and Cultural Resources
08/27/01 :
Capital Improvement Program
11/22/04:
Density Bonuses (Incentives for the development of affordable
housing)
Since then, however, there are new commissioners. Staff can provide these workshops
again if the Commission is interested in having additional workshops. The Commission
may wish to discuss which topics would be of greatest interest to the Commission and how
frequently and at which time the workshops should be held.
Typically, workshops have been held at 6:00 p.m., just prior to regularly scheduled
Commission meetings. Workshops could be scheduled on a regular basis, or as needed.
