Improvement Program. The total estimated expenditure for the purchase and installation of
furniture and modular walls for this project is $137,290. The project is funded through Capital
Improvement Funds (Fund 200).
CORRELATION TO THE STRATEGIC PLAN
Public Works Engineering Reconfiguration Project contributes to the fulfillment of the City's
Strategic Plan Goal E: Organizational Excellence and Customer Service, specifically strategy 4
to support talented management with effective employee development, succession planning to
cultivate and grow leadership, excellent performance, and attracting and retaining outstanding
employees; and strategy 5b by improving and/or updating technology in support of efficient and
effective services.
BACKGROUND
Public Works Engineering Reconfiguration Project was established to address space needs within
the Engineering Division. In addition, some of the cubicle partitions and furniture are over twenty-
eight years old. Repairs are no longer possible because replacement parts are not available.
This area accommodates fourteen staff members who serve the public and business community.
These improvements will result in more efficient use of the available space and will coincide with
painting of the walls. The project will also allow for the creation of a Traffic Management Center
(TMC), whereby the City will be able to better evaluate and control the local traffic signal system
to accommodate in -field conditions.

The final phase of the project will be the installation of new work stations and will occur during the
holiday closure.
