TO: MATTHEW S. WEST, CITY MANAGER
FROM: CHAD CLANTON, ACTING DIRECTOR, PARKS AND RECREATION
SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT AND AUTHORIZATION TO
FILE THE NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE CITRUS RANCH PARK
PICNIC SHELTER (CIP NO. 20081)
SUMMARY:
The Citrus Ranch Park Picnic Shelter has been completed and the project is ready for
acceptance and filing of the Notice of Completion.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council:
1. Adopt Resolution No. 19-50 accepting the Citrus Ranch Park Picnic Shelter (CIP
No. 20081), and
2. Authorize the City Clerk to file the Notice of Completion with the County
Recorder's office.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Citrus Ranch Park Picnic Shelter (CIP No. 20081) was in the 2018-2019 Capital
Improvement Program as a Park Development (131) funded project. The final cost of
the contract was $145,794.
CORRELATION TO THE STRATEGIC PLAN:
The project advances Goal A of the City of Tustin Strategic Plan regarding Economic
and Neighborhood Development by making improvements to existing facilities to
expand recreational activities.
BACKGROUND:
The scope of work included the construction of a custom designed wood picnic shelter
on the north side of the park. The shelter was designed by James Mickartz Architect
(JMA) to reflect a similar aesthetic to the existing shelter on the south side of the park.
This included stone veneer covered columns and a concrete tile roof (see Attachment).
The project was completed on October 21, 2019. The City has retained 5% of the contract
amount, which will be released no sooner than 35 days after the recordation of the Notice
of Completion with the County Recorder's Office.
Respectfully submitted,
