Meeting: Regular Meeting of the City Council Item: 7. STATUS UPDATE REGARDING COVID-19 ORDERS AND REGULATIONS AFFECTING TUSTIN RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES. eComment: My name is Amanda Lebrecht. I am a resident of Tustin, currently serve on the board for Tustin Girls' Softball League and my children have played for Tustin Western Little League since 2014. Both are non-profit softball and baseball leagues for children ages 4 to 14. We utilize fields at Columbus Tustin, Tustin Sports Park and Hewes Elementary. Our leagues bring so much value to our community and work tirelessly with city officials to ensure that our facilities and residents remain the top priority. When evaluating the opening of parks and field rentals for youth sports, I encourage you to reflect upon the many positive contributions these and other leagues like AYSO, TELL and Tustin Pony have made to the City of Tustin. How hard we've advocated for equity in youth sports and how much value we've brought to our community. As a result, I implore you to vote to open outdoor group facility rentals as soon as possible. Please give us, the leaders of your community sports organizations and also concerned parents of your city the opportunity to return our kids to the fields trusting that we'll take every precaution to ensure their safety. Let our children who have been sheltered at home be reminded that they live in the City of Trees. Please don't force your residents who have chosen to live and shop in Tustin to consider joining youth sports in other cities who make it a priority this summer. The greatest concern expressed throughout this pandemic has been the mental and physical health of our society. Supporting and playing sports is a national pastime and a major component in that endeavor. Please allow the parents of your City the opportunity to decide what is right for our children. Allow youth sports leagues the opportunity to facilitate that choice. Thank you, Amanda Lebrecht View and Analyze eComments This email was sent from https://aranicusideas.com
