BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
The Red Hill Avenue Widening Project at the 1-5 Freeway (CIP No. 7133) was completed on
August 3, 2005. The purpose of the construction of the project was to bring Red Hill Avenue into
conformance with its designation as a major (6 lane) arterial roadway with bike lanes as shown on
the Circulation Element of the City's General Plan. The project will also help to relieve traffic
congestion, improve the traffic level of service, and improve access to the 1-5 Freeway by adding
an exclusive right turn lane onto the northbound 1-5.
All of the work for this project has been completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer, and is
now ready for City Council acceptance.
