City Council on items on the Closed Session Agenda.
eComment: Hello my name is Lauren Sanford and I am a member of District 45. 1 am writing to
call for the defunding of the police. The events of the last few weeks (and the last 400 years)
have proven the police incapable of breaking free of the systemic racism that the justice system
was founded on. I do not want to give my tax money to fund this oppressive and violent system.
To fund people being tear gassed and shot in the street. Please consider allocating funds toward
programs for mental health, affordable housing, social work...places where it can do good. I do
not trust or respect law enforcement at this time and I do not want them in my city.
