HUSTON, CITY MANAGER FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/FIELD SERVICES DIVISION SUBJECT: AUTHORIZE STAFF TO SOLICIT BIDS FOR REPLACEMENT OF RIDING LAWNMQWER SUMMARY Authorize City staff to advertise. and solicit bids for the replacement of one riding lawn mower for use by the Public Works Department / Field Services Landscape Division. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council, authorize City staff to advertise and solicit bids for a new ridding lawnmower. FISCAL IMPACT The replacement of the proposed riding lawn mower is budgeted in FY 05-06 under the special equipment lease fund ($49,925.00), account number 84-801-9740 and the Public Works Landscape Division operating budget ($15,000.00), account number 01-404-9845. The total estimated cost of replacement is $65,000.00. BACKGROUND The Public Works Department / Field Services Landscape Division is scheduled to replace an 18-year old riding lawn mower' in the FY 05-06. The old riding lawn mower was not working and needed major repairs due to the excessive wear and tear. This old mower was declared surplus and sold at public auction. The new riding lawn mower will have three cutting decks with a total mowing width of 180 inches and will enhance the efficiency of the landscape division. The estimated replacement cost of the new mower is approximately $65,000.00. Tim D.
