STACK, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEER SUBJECT: ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 20-57 TO ACCEPT IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION PROJECTS AT LANSDOWNE ROAD/VALENCIA AVENUE AND PARKCENTER LANE/BRYAN AVENUE INTERSECTIONS, CIP NOS. 40090 AND 40091 AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY ENGINEER TO FILE A NOTICE OF COMPLETION SUMMARY Construction of the Traffic Signal Installation Projects at Lansdowne Road/Valencia Avenue and Parkcenter Lane/Bryan Avenue Intersections, (CIP Nos. 40090 and 40091), has been completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer and is now ready for City Council acceptance. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council take the following actions: 1. Adopt Resolution No. 20-57 accepting the construction of the Traffic Signal Installation Projects at Lansdowne Road/Valencia Avenue and Parkcenter Lane/Bryan Avenue Intersections, (CIP NOS. 40090 and 40091); and 2. Authorize the City Engineer to execute and file the Notice of Completion with the Orange County Recorder's Office. FISCAL IMPACT The final construction cost for the Traffic Signal Installation Projects at Lansdowne Road/Valencia Avenue and Parkcenter Lane/Bryan Avenue Intersections, (CIP Nos. 40090 and 40091) is $692,163.25 including an authorized contract change order in the amount of $21,663.25. The contract change order comprised of additional potholing, conduit re-routing, and material design changes including a larger traffic signal standard and mast arm at Parkcenter Lane/Bryan Avenue due to utility conflicts. Sufficient funds were budgeted and appropriated in the Capital Improvement Program. The traffic signal at Lansdowne Road/Valencia Avenue was partially funded with developer contribution provided by the South Orange County Community College District(SOCCCD) in the amount of$75,000. CORRELATION TO THE STRATEGIC PLAN The project contributes to the fulfillment of the City's Strategic Plan Goal B: Public Safety and Protection of Assets. Specifically, the project implements Strategy #5, which among other items, is to ensure continuous maintenance and improvement of traffic control and transportation facilities. DISCUSSION On December 18, 2018, the City Council authorized the award of construction contract to Sturgeon Electric California, LLC. Said public works and improvement is more particularly described as follows: Traffic Signal Installation Projects at Lansdowne Road/Valencia Avenue and Parkcenter Lane/Bryan Avenue Intersections (CIP Nos. 40090 and 40091) BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Engineer of the City of Tustin is hereby authorized to execute and file a Notice of Completion for the acceptance of said public works and improvement described herein as required by law.
