ENTITY INTRODUCTION L 50 year relationship with Santa Ana College Began in 1955 on the Katella Avenue property in the City of Orange In 1959 California formed the Commission on Peace Officer Training — provides minimum standards for California law enforcement Services were dispersed for decades and building this facility at this location represents the culmination of this relationship There have been over 3500 graduates from the inception of the partnership and over 2500 since the opening of the OCSRTA facility — providing services to 62 agencies ranging from other college and university police forces to city and county law enforcement Construction took place between 2005 and 2007. The building was dedicated on September 1 1, 2007. Site was planned to be comprised of the Sheriff's Training Academy building, outdoor training areas, parking and a Public Safety Institute building. Original Site Plan 4 DEVELOPED PROPERTY Current Site Development Site is currently developed to 80% of it's original vision — approximately 12 acres developed and 3 acres undeveloped. Given the new challenges facing law enforcement and first responders, new facility improvement concepts have emerged and are being considered for the undeveloped 3 acres of property by Santa Ana College. t 5 UNDEVELOPED PROPERTY MASTER PLANNING The District and Santa Ana College continue to explore the development and expansion of educational programs that enhance the safety, and law enforcement offerings at the site which may include: • Fire Academy Training such as: • Biddle (physical agility) test preparation • Fitness and skills assessment area • Instructional classrooms/labs • Homeland Security Program —Tactical Training Program with potential for training in areas such as: • Cyber Security Training • Disaster/Critical Incident Preparedness/Response • Airport Security • The District and Santa Ana College continue to explore funding opportunities with its partners and through available grants for these highly needed programs that serve the community, cities and Orange County. 1 Community College District QUESTIONS
