WHERE ?
1st Garden (450 El Camino Real):
would be an educational site with
the support of the UC Master
Gardeners, local scout troops, and
an army of local volunteers; the
organic food generated from this
garden will help with education and
food insecurity.
2nd garden (345 E. Main Street):
open to any community members
who want to rent a planter + grow
their own organic, locally -sourced
food.
HOW?*
Using innovative, sustainable and ecologically -friendly
gardening practices, including:
• Low water (drip) irrigation system that conserves
water and prevents disease by minimizing water
contact with the leaves, stems, and fruits of plants.
• Raised beds that protect the crops from animals,
improves drainage, and avoids contaminated soil.
• Solar -powered fountain and lighting that creates
an inviting and sustainable environment for visitors
and volunteers.
• Themed mural that showcases local artists and
reflects the agricultural history of Tustin; increases
foot traffic to our community and businesses, which
have experienced a difficult year due to COVID-19.

WHY?*
COMMUNITY BUILDING
This community garden will provide our community with a space to come
together, dialogue and learn from one another, a practice that is much
needed/desired after a year of social distancing and limited
social/community interactions.
FOOD JUSTICE
This community garden will also address existing food insecurities in our
community, which have been aggravated in the past year due to COVID.
OTHER BENEFITS
Lastly, this community garden will provide our residents with a myriad of
physical and mental health benefits; and increase foot traffic to local
businesses in Old Town Tustin.
