Placing Rank and Add on the City Council"s Agenda

Dear Mayor Clark:
Hope you are doing well! Congrats on a successful start to your term; your leadership has
helped Tustin navigate through COVID-19.
I am writing to ask that you move to place Rank and Add on the Tustin City Council's agenda
by the end of August. Governor Newsom has recently lifted the suspension of litigation on
district -based elections, and many Tustin voters want to have a discussion and vote on
alternatives. Voters Choose has spent several years educating our community on different
voting rules. Rank and Add has emerged as the community's clear favorite for reasons our
members (and more) will share in the coming days. You can read a succinct case for Rank and
Add with this Voice of OC article: htU2s://voiceofoc.org/2021/06/martinez-lets-reimagine-our-
democracy-orange-county/.
We ask that you meet with us to learn about our research, including new analysis of different
systems' costs, and place the proposal on the City Council's agenda this summer. That way, the
community will have time to voice its views, and Tustin will have time to transition to Rank
and Add by 2022.
Thank you for your consideration, and we hope to hear from you soon!
Best wishes,
Brandon Martinez

P.S. To Ms. Erica Yasuda, please include the body of this email as a public comment in the
next City Council agenda. I would like the whole Tustin City Council to know my position on
Rank and Add.
