HomeMy WebLinkAboutJulia Araiza (item 4) CITY OF TUSTIN AGENDA ITEM #4 Sept. 7, 2021 Julia Araiza I oppose building the proposed 4-story residential/commercial project on Redhill south of San Juan, as well as on other sites. It would degrade the quality of life for Tustin residents by increasing traffic and parking problems. It would stress our school system. We need to think beyond the current, hyped housing shortage. Some California cities have already sued the State, claiming the State egregiously overstated the need for more housing. Today's box-like apartment buildings can easily turn into slums when rental pressure eases. We already have three such projects. Fortunately, they are located away from the local traffic pattern Redhill is already crowded with residents driving to the 5 Freeway. Tustin has been enhanced by several new attractive, owner-occupied housing communities. We should seek similar construction, with open spaces, and sufficient off-street parking. We should allow for commercial space as well because times always change, and we do not want to eliminate commercial opportunities in Tustin. Any rental communities in the Redhiill area should have deep landscaped setbacks and enough off-street parking to accommodate all residents. I am a Tustin resident for 50 years. I am involved in the multi-family housing industry, and I am a licensed real estate broker.
