eComment: On 08/13 there was a hit and run as a vehicle traveling south on Newport plowed
into two other Vehicles that were turning left on Sycamore. Instead of trying to see if the people
they hit were okay once they were able to, They started the car they left the scene. One can Infer
that they were drunk or had another reason to escape. I have brought up the need of having a
north and south bound protected left turn on Sycamore and Newport not just because of
accidents but the amount of people who go full speed into the left turn. Having a protected left
turn would force people to slow down instead of taking the turn with speeds up to 40MPH. Many
people in the neighborhood have had close calls of people who don't see us crossing and would
have gotten hit if we didn't get out of the way when we had the legal right of way. In my last
attempt I was told that there is not enough accidents to warrant it. I ask that it be reconsidered
for public safety, especially with the Tustin Family and youth center and Sycamore Magnet
academy being on the same street. Thank you. https://photos.app.goo.g1/hSQk5siEX34KCZcFA
