WEST, CITY MANAGER FROM: JASON AL -IMAM, DIRECTOR OF FINANCE SUBJECT: DECLARATION OF SURPLUS EQUIPMENT SUMMARY: The City has accumulated obsolete and/or damaged equipment that include but are not limited to desktop and laptop computers, monitors/TVs, network switches, servers, and phone equipment that are no longer usable or required for public use. RECOMMENDATIONS: 1. Declare the listed equipment surplus and not required for public use; and, 2. Authorize staff to sell/have auctioned serviceable equipment of value and dispose of assets beyond repair. CORRELATION TO THE STRATEGIC PLAN The declaration of surplus property implements strategy number five (5) of Goal E. FISCAL IMPACT: Surplus property that has a salvage value will be sent to auction. Proceeds from the sale of surplus property will be deposited into the Information Technology Fund. BACKGROUND: The City no longer uses the equipment listed in the attachment, as it has either exceeded its useful service life or is no longer needed. Staff proposes to offer these items for auction and those deemed beyond repair will be destroyed or recycled. Computer hard drives will be destroyed.
