YASUDA, CITY CLERK SUBJECT: 2023 COMMISSION APPOINTMENTS SUMMARY: Council direction is needed to fill (2) two vacancies on the Planning Commission, (2) two vacancies on the Community Services Commission, (3) three vacancies on the Audit Commission, and (4) four vacancies on the Building Board of Appeals. RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council: 1. Appoint the following Commission/Board candidates as recommended by Mayor Lumbard and Mayor Pro Tem Clark: • Planning Commission: Amy Mason, Tanner Douthit • Community Services Commission: Ken Henderson, and Amy Nakamoto • Audit Commission: Dan Erickson, Adrian Henson, and Kristin Manna • Building Board of Appeals: Scoba Rhodes, John Aguilera, and Kyle Domer 2. Direct the City Clerk to advertise and solicit applications for the remaining vacancy on the Building Board of Appeals FISCAL IMPACT: None. BACKGROUND: On January 17, 2023 the City Council directed the City Clerk to notice the vacancies for Commissioners whose terms were expiring on March 1, 2023 and February 5, 2023. A total of (19) nineteen applications were received. On March 29, 2023 the ad hoc committee conducted the interviews. Mayor Lumbard and Mayor Pro Tem Clark are recommending the following candidates for Council’s consideration: Planning Commission (two vacancies) 1. Amy Mason, incumbent 2. Tanner Douthit Community Services Commission (two vacancies) 1. Amy Nakamoto, incumbent 2. Ken Henderson, incumbent Audit Commission (three vacancies) 1. Dan Erickson, incumbent 2. Adrian Henson 3. Kristin Manna Building Board of Appeals (four vacancies) 1. Scoba Rhodes, incumbent 2. John Aguilera 3. Kyle Domer Due to the remaining vacancy on the Building Board of Appeals, staff is recommending that the City Council direct the City Clerk to advertise and solicit applications.
