4 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN
5 BY ADDING THE CLASSIFICATION OF MAINTENANCE AIDE
7 WHEREAS, the City adopted a Classification plan in 1984, by
adopting Resolution No. 84-63; and

WHEREAS, it is desirable and appropriate to revise and
9 update the Classification Plan when appropriate;
]0 NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Tustin,
California, does hereby resolve that the Classification Plan of
]] the City of Tustin, dated August 20, 1984, is hereby amended to
include the classification of Maintenance Aide, as outlined in
]2
the attached job description.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Tustin City
~4 Council held on the 17th day of April, 1997.

CLASS SPECIFICATION
Job Title: Maintenance Aide
Supervisor's Title: Field Services Manager
Jobs Supervised: None
Definition:
Under general supervision performs a variety of routine, unskilled or semi-skilled manual
and custodial tasks related to the cleaning and set up of City-owned facilities used by the
community and private groups.
Example of Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Cleans and prepares park facilities for use by the general public.
2. Follows an assigned route and performs general clean up of parks and building
utilized by the public during the City's closed Fridays, Weekends, and holidays.
3. ' Works alone or as a member of a crew to perform trash removal, empty and
clean waste receptacles, rake sand lots, broom sand off of concrete and rubber
areas.
4. Removes graffiti from buildings and structures.
5. Checks play equipment for defects and makes minor repairs.
6. . Prepares and cleans facilities prior to user events.
7. Assists the public with direction or provides assistance to public in a courteous,
sensitive and enthusiastic manner.
8.- Interprets facility rules and regulations to the public per established guidelines.
9. Completes basic activity records and reports.
10. Operates motor vehicles in a safe manner.
11. Performs minor repairs and maintenance in the streets, weed' control, parks,
building or landscape section as part of a crew of the Public Works Department
on occasion.
QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES
Fducafion/Experience Guidelines:
High School Diploma or general education degree (GED). Experience related to
maintenance work which would enable the individual to successfully perform the essential
job functions of the position.
Knowledge of:
Safe operation of vehicles, maintenance equipment, power and hand tools and effective
oral and written communication methods.
Skills/Abilities:
Operate vehicles, maintenance equipment, power and hand tools; record logs, fill out
forms and write reports; relay information clearly and accurately in English to
supervisors and co-workers; strength and physical endurance to work outdoors in water,
dust or dirt and to safely perform the required tasks.
