SUBJECT: BUILDING BOARD OF APPEALS AD HOC COMMITTEE SELECTION
SUMMARY:
Council direction is needed to fill (1) one vacancy on the Building Board of Appeals.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council appoint Daniel Zavadil, as recommended by Mayor Lumbard and
Mayor Pro Tern Clark, to serve on the Building Board of Appeals.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None.
BACKGROUND:
On January 17, 2023 the City Council directed the City Clerk to notice the vacancies for
Commissioners whose terms were expiring on March 1, 2023 and February 5, 2023. At
that time, the Mayor appointed an ad hoc committee consisting of Mayor Lumbard and
Mayor Pro Tern Clark to interview candidates and make a recommendation to the full City
Council.
On April 4, 2023, the Council approved the ad hoc committee's recommendation to
appoint several candidates. However, due to the remaining vacancy on the Bu ilding
Board of Appeals, the City Council directed the City Clerk to advertise and solicit
applications. The City Clerk received one application for the Building Board of Appeals
that satisfies the requirement to have a physical disability.
On November 14, 2023, the ad hoc committee interviewed Daniel Zavadil and is
recommending that the City Council appoint Mr. Zavadil to serve on the Building Board
of Appeals.
