HomeMy WebLinkAboutPRESENTATION - NAVY NORTH HANGAR STATUS UPDATEQ I EMO Navy North Ilangar Status Update Response/Recover • Ground inspection and remediation operations continue across all divisions as residential requests for assistance are received and completed. • 100% of all residential requests have been fulfilled. 2 ponse/F • Navy North Hangar base structure remains encased in reinforced plastic nylon sheeting to continue to protect the site against inclement weather. • Safeguards will remain in place until U.S. Navy removes debris; Navy has not yet provided its plan nor timeline for clean-up. ponse/R • Testing completed on schedule for randomly- selected participants in control and study areas. • Sampling analysis underway. • Results are expected in late April pending review by environmental experts. Finance Update • At U.S. Navy"s request, the City undertook emergency response and recovery efforts for the Navy North Hangar Fire. • City costs to address onsite & offsite fire impacts now exceed $79 million. $52.570.475 • Total Navy funding pledged to date $61 million. 5 Finance Update Breakdown Debris Clearance Air Monitoring, Analytical &Community Outreach Consulting, Project Management &legal Agency Costs Hangar Door Deconstruction Residential Air/Dust &Outdoor Soil Sampling Supplies, Equipment, &Security Total $5215701475 $171128,413 $516421048 $210791922 $8541251 $8001000 $503,228 $79,578,337 �F Current/Future Operations • Secure Debris: Residential inspection and remediation continues with over 1,250 residences completed. • Debris Removal: North Navy Hangar Site debris removal timeline and plan remains unknown from the U.S. Navy. • Exterior Soil & Interior Air/Dust Study: All samples have been collected and are being evaluated and processed; Results should be available at the end of April, pending review by the regulatory agencies. • Air Monitoring and Surveillance: Continues round the hangar and data reports collected do not show, any elevated risk of harm to the public, according to environmental health agencies. M 7 Air Monitorin Current/Future Operations Analytical, and Community Outreach Services • At U.S. EPA"s request, environmental consulting firm CTEH was hired to perform air monitoring, analytical services, and to provide additional CACs. • Infinity and ROI Solutions helped provide City website and social media updates, and call center staffing. • Currently deployed and in -use are 23 DustTrak monitors and 17 additional analytical stations which actively monitor for lead and asbestos in the air. • CTEH has 11 total staff that run 24/7 operations consisting of Certified Industrial Hygienists (CIH) and Senior Toxicologists that monitor stations and collect samples to send to the lab for analysis. • The information is then communicated to appropriate stakeholders and regulatory agencies for review and dissemination.
