RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends the City Council: 1. Adopt Resolution No. 24-32 identifying projects to be submitted to the California Transportation Commission for SB 1 funding; and 2. Direct staff to submit the Project List to the California Transportation Commission on behalf of the City. FISCAL IMPACT Submittal of the Project List to the CTC allows the City to receive funding for maintenance, rehabilitation, and safety related roadway projects. The current estimated revenue for Fiscal Year 2024-25 is approximately $2,057,600. CORRELATION TO THE STRATEGIC PLAN The recommended actions contribute to the fulfillment of the City's Strategic Plan Goal B, Public Safety and Protection of Assets, ensuring that Tustin is an attractive, safe and well maintained community in which people feel pride. DISCUSSION On April 28, 2017 the Governor signed SB1, which is known as the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017 to address basic road maintenance, rehabilitation and critical safety needs on both the state highway and local streets and road system. Beginning November 1, 2017, the State Controller began depositing various portions of this new funding into the newly created Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Account (RMRA). A percentage of this new RMRA funding is being apportioned by formula to eligible cities and counties for basic road maintenance, rehabilitation, and critical safety projects on the local streets and roads system. The City is required to adopt a Project List by resolution and submit to the CTC annually by July 1st for the upcoming fiscal year.
