SUBJECT: WORKSHOP ON FAIR POLITICAL PRACTICES COMMISSION
(FPPC) REGULATIONS
BACKGROUND:
Under the Political Reform Act, public officials may not make, participate in making, or
attempt to use their official positions to influence a governmental decision in which they
know or have reason to know that they have a disqualifying interest. This includes
various aspects such as campaign finance, conflict of interest, lobbying, and
governmental ethics. The FPPC is an independent, non-partisan commission
responsible for administering and enforcing the Political Reform Act.
Staff will present an overview of FPPC conflict of interest provisions applicable to the
Planning Commission.
