HUSTON, CITY MANAGER FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION SUBJECT: SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATION FOR THE RED HILL AVENUE /OLWYN DRIVE PEDESTRIAN ENHANCEMENTS PROJECT (CIP NO. 4067) SUMMARY The contractor for the Red Hill Avenue / Olwyn Drive Pedestrian Enhancements Project (CIP No. 4067) has requested a change order for additional work. The cost of this work has now been resolved and a supplemental appropriation is necessary to complete payment of this change order. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council approve a supplemental appropriation in the amount of $15,000.00 from the unappropriated Capital Projects Fund to the Red Hill Avenue / Olwyn Drive Pedestrian Enhancements Project (CIP No. 4067). FISCAL IMPACT The final cost of construction for the Red Hill Avenue/Olwyn Drive Pedestrian Enhancements Project (CIP No. 4067) is $196,078.05. The project is funded by a combination of Capital Improvement Program funds and Motor Vehicle Registration Subvention funds (AB 2766) for a total of $185,000. The $15,000.00 in additional funding is needed from the unappropriated Capital Projects Fund to pay for Change Order NO.1 and incidental inspections prior to completion of the project. BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION The construction contract is for the installation of an in-pavement lighted crosswalk across Red Hill Avenue at Olwyn Drive. There was one contract change order associated with this project in the amount of $31,221.11 for the removal and replacement of asphalt paving, concrete curb and gutter, and installation of additional underground conduits.
