Navy North Hangar
Status Update
Em ergency Response/Recovery Update
• Ground Inspection and Remediation:
o Operations continue across all divisions as residential requests for assistance are
received and completed.
o Residential inspection & remediation continues with over 1,500 residences completed.
• Debris Removal:
o All bagged debris waste has been removed from the site per the Navy Work Plan.
o Hangar doors are being dismantled and removed.
o Containment structures are being erected including negative pressure chambers for
debris removal from within the hangar.
• Cause of the Fire is Still Under Investigation

Hangar Mitigation:
o The Navy has assumed the majority of duties
and responsibilities for the North Hangar.
o IEM continues to coordinate and monitor
progress at the site.
Air Monitoring and Surveillance:
o Data collection continues around the Hangar.
o Reports collected do not show any releases or
elevated risk of harm to the public according
to environmental health agencies.

Finance Update
• At U.S. Navy"s request, the City undertook
emergency response and recovery efforts
for the Navy North Hangar Fire.
• City costs to address onsite & offsite fire
impacts now exceed $86.8 million.
• Total Navy funding pledged to date $88
million.
