SCHINDLER, CITY MANAGER Agenda Item 12 Reviewed: City Manager 11� Finance Director JENNIFER KING, FINANCE DIRECTOR/CITY TREASURER DECLARATION OF SURPLUS EQUIPMENT SUMMARY: The City has accumulated a collection of obsolete and/or damaged equipment, including but not limited to desktop and laptop computers, access points, servers, network equipment, camera equipment, printers, scanners, tablets, and phone devices that are no longer functional or needed for public use. RECOMMENDATIONS: 1. Declare the listed equipment as surplus and not required for public use; and, 2. Authorize staff to sell serviceable equipment and dispose of assets beyond repair. CORRELATION TO THE STRATEGIC PLAN: The declaration of surplus property supports the achievement of Goal E: Organizational Excellence and Customer Service. Specifically, it aligns with Strategy 5, which acknowledges that new technology investments aimed at enhancing customer service, staff efficiency, financial accountability, and service excellence will inevitably render certain equipment obsolete and unneeded, requiring proper disposal. FISCAL IMPACT: Surplus property with salvage value will be sent to auction, and the proceeds from the sale will be deposited into the Information Technology Fund. BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION: The City no longer uses the equipment listed in the attachment, as it has either exceeded its useful service life or is no longer needed. Staff proposes to offer these items for auction, while those deemed beyond repair will be destroyed or recycled.
