CLANTON, DIRECTOR OF PARKS AND RECREATION CENTENNIAL PARK SCULPTURE PUBLIC ART PROJECT At their April 16, 2025, Meeting, the Public Art Commission selected a sculpture for installation at Centennial Park to recommend to the City Council for final approval. RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council approve the recommendation of the Public Art Commission to select the sculpture submitted by artist Seth Johnson, to be installed at Centennial Park and authorize the Parks and Recreation Department to execute an agreement with the artist. aI►yil:7_TI&6 Upon installation of the sculpture, the artist will be paid $13,500, in addition to associated installation costs not to exceed $6,500, from the Public Art Fund in the 2024-2025 Fiscal Year Budget. CORRELATION TO THE STRATEGIC PLAN: This public art project is in accordance with Goal A of the Tustin Strategic Plan to enhance the vibrancy and quality of life in all neighborhoods and areas of the community. 7_T91:(r]:16111111101I7_1► I1l116'�9i�11:14 Eel ► F At their June 10, 2024, meeting, the Public Art Commission identified a public art sculpture at Centennial Park as a priority project for the 2024-2025 Fiscal Year, following completion of the Centennial Park Handball Wall Mural. The specific location chosen for the project is adjacent to the playground area in the west entry to the park. To move the project forward, the Commission approved a Call for Artists at their February 19, 2025 meeting, and requested that staff post it on the Call For Entry (CaFE) website to solicit artist submissions. After reviewing and discussing these options, the Commission identified the sculpture by Seth Johnson as the preferred choice. As per the City of Tustin Public Art Policy, this selection is being forwarded to the City Council with a recommendation for final approval.
