Meeting: Regular Meeting of the City Council/Special Closed Session-5:30pm/Regular Meeting- 6:00pm f[T' i Z : ► _ ► y 0i191- TUSTIN CITY CODE PROHIBITING THE SALE OF KRATOM PRODUCTS The City Attorney's office has prepared proposed amendments to Article 6 of the Tustin City Code to add a ban on the sale, distribution, and advertisement for sale of kratom products within the City. The proposed ordinance would ban the sale, distribution, and advertisement for sale of any product containing any part of the leaf of the plant Mitragyna speciosa (more commonly known as the kratom plant). The purpose of the ordinance is to protect the public health and welfare against the sale and distribution of products which the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has identified as having opioid-like characteristics, and which pose a threat to the health and safety of the American Public. eComment: Hello, I strongly oppose the proposed ordinance to ban Kratom. For me, this isn't just a policy issue —it's deeply personal. Kratom has been a lifesaver. After years of struggling with opioid addiction, I was able to regain control of my life thanks to Kratom. It helped me manage withdrawal symptoms and pain in a natural, manageable way without turning back to harmful substances. Banning Kratom would take away a tool that many responsible adults like myself depend on to stay healthy and productive. Instead of criminalizing something that has helped countless people overcome addiction and improve their quality of life, the city should focus on education, responsible use, and ensuring product safety through regulation —not prohibition. Please don't punish those of us who have found real hope and stability through Kratom. -JDH View and Analyze eComments This email was sent from httos://tustin.aranicusideas.com.
