RESOLUTION NO. 83-102
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN,
CALIFORNIA, COMMENDING RONALD W. REAGAN, PRESIDENT OF
THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
WHEREAS, the lives of American citizens were placed in jeopardy on
the Island of Grenada by the covert acts of foreign nationals who would
exploit any individual or nation in an endeavor to enslave the peoples of
the world and deny the inherent rights of life, liberty, and-property, and
WHEREAS, the expansion of communistic ideology and governments in
the Western Hemisphere is a threat to the peaceful enjoyment of life and
liberty of all of North, Central, and South Americans and an infringement
upon the spirit and intent of the Monroe Doctrine, and
WHEREAS, there was reasonable evidence confirmed by subsequent
findings that the control of the government of Grenada had been wrestled
from the populace by barbaric murders wi th the intent of aming
revolutionaries to destroy the tranquility of peace-loving nations of the
worl d, and
WHEREAS, President Ronald Reagan had the courage, wisdom, and
fortitude to take decisive action to protect and fuhther the rights of
self-determination, freedom from subversion for our neighboring nation
states, and protect the lives of United States citizens, and
,
WHEREAS, the President, as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces
of the United States, directed the nation's military forces to the Island of
Grenada and did restore the government to the people thereof, and
WHEREAS, President Reagan had the integrity to take decisive
action in the interest of the United States and the tenants of liberty
without fear of political intimidation or the necessity of world sanction;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Tustin that we hereby commend RONALD W. REAGAN, President of the United
States of America, for the courage of his convictions and forthright actions
in the interest of the United States and peoples of the Western Hemisphere
and express our appreciation for his leadership and intrepidity.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Tustin, California, on the 21st of November, 1983.
