RESOLUTION NO. 84-19
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA
RELATING TO THE CAMPAIGN REFORM LEGISLATION.
WHEREAS, the state legislature of the State of California is drafting
campaign reform legislation, such legislation presently listed as AB 12 and
SB 87;
AND, WHEREAS, the legislation is still in draft form and is subject to
negotiation and amendment;
AND, WHEREAS, there has been in recent years an astronomical escalation
of costs in election campaigning;
AND, WHEREAS, the escalating cost of campaigns is just as relevant at
the local level as it is at the state level.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Tustin, California does
hereby resolve as follows:
The California Legislature should include local offices, as well as
state offices, in any beneficial campaign reform legislation. These
benefits could include, but not be limited to, public financing of
campaigns and tax deductions for political contributions.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council, City of
Tustin held on the 21st day of February 1984.
