SCHINDLER, CITY MANAGER FROM: JENNIFER KING, FINANCE DIRECTOR/CITY TREASURER SUBJECT: DECLARATION OF SURPLUS COMPUTER EQUIPMENT SUMMARY: The City has accumulated a collection of obsolete and/or damaged computer equipment, including, but not limited to desktop and laptop computers, access points, servers, network equipment, printers, scanners, tablets, and phone devices that are no longer functional or needed for public use. RECOMMENDATION: 1. Declare the listed computer equipment as surplus and not required for public use; and 2. Authorize staff to dispose of the equipment. FISCAL IMPACT: The listed computer equipment has been determined to have zero salvage value and will be disposed of by an electronic waste service provider. This item has no direct fiscal impact. CORRELATION TO THE STRATEGIC PLAN: The declaration of surplus property supports the achievement of Goal E: Organizational Excellence and Customer Serivice. Specifically, it aligns with Strategy 5, which acknowledges that new technology investments, aimed at enhancing customer service, staff efficiency, financial accountability, and service excellence, will inevitably render certain equipment obsolete and unneeded, requiring proper disposal. BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION: The City no longer uses the computer equipment listed in the attachment, as it has either exceeded its useful service life or is no longer functional. All applications have been removed from the devices. Staff are proposing these items be destroyed or recycled to ensure data security.
