SCHINDLER, CITY MANAGER FROM: ALEXA SMITTLE, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR SUBJECT: 2025 YEAR IN REVIEW — COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SUMMARY: The 2025 Year in Review summarizes the Community Development Department's programs and activities conducted from January 2025 through December 2025. RECOMMENDATION: Recommend the City Council receive and file the report. FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact associated with this item. CORRELATION TO THE STRATEGIC PLAN: The Year in Review summary contributes to Goal E of the Strategic Plan in Organizational Excellence and Customer Service. The Year in Review highlights how Community Development Department's work efforts align with the City Council's policies and direction. BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION: The 2025 Community Development Year in Review outlines the Department's achievements across several key areas, including land development projects, permit issuance rates, and grant funds awarded, among other statistics. The attached presentation emphasizes strategic policy improvements, such as the adoption of Citywide Objective Design Standards and Zoning Code streamlining efforts that reduced processing times and provided customers with more clarity and certainty. The presentation showcases the Department's commitment to initiatives within Planning, Building, Code Enforcement, and Economic Development. The Department's 2025 Year in Review Presentation is reflected in Attachment A, which showcases the activities summarized above; and Attachment B provides a link to a story map that offers a visual overview of land development activities in the City, including projects under review, entitled, or under construction.
