On behalf of the Tustin Police Foundation, I want to sincerely thank the City Council for your support
and for believing in the work we are doing to strengthen public safety across our community —
especially in the neighborhoods that need it most.
This funding means a great deal to us. Notjust because of what it enables, but because of what it
represents: a shared commitment to making sure every part of Tustin feels safe, supported, and
connected.
As we continue working toward building out the Real Time Crime Center —a multi -year, multi -million -
dollar effort to modernize how we protect our city —these funds will be fully dedicated to outreach,
education, and community engagement.
That focus is meaningful. It allows us to prioritize people —making sure residents in CDBG
neighborhoods understand what this program is, how it works, and how it benefits them. At the same
time, we will continue working with private donors, local businesses, and additional grants to fund the
equipment and infrastructure needed to bring the full system to life.
At the heart of this effort is real, face-to-face connection. We plan to host three community town halls
within these neighborhoods, creating space for open conversation, questions, and trust -building. We
expect to connect directly with 150 to 300 residents through these meetings. Just as important, we
want people to feel heard —to know they are part of this process, not just recipients of it.
Beyond that, we will expand our reach through targeted outreach —both digital and in -person —using
social media, localized messaging, and printed materials placed throughout the community. Through
these combined efforts, we anticipate reaching between 1,000 and 5,000 residents.
From a HUD perspective, this work supports a more suitable living environment by improving
awareness, increasing access to public safety resources, and strengthening the relationship between
the community and those who serve it. More importantly, it helps close the gap for neighborhoods that
have historically been left out of these types of investments.
For us, this is about more than a program. It's about making sure that every resident —regardless of
where they live —feels safer walking their streets, more connected to their police department, and more
confident in the future of their neighborhood.
We're grateful for your partnership and your trust. This is how real progress starts —together.
