FILE THE NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE CAMINO REAL PARK
PLAYGROUND RENOVATION
SUMMARY:
The Camino Real Park Phase 1 Playground Renovation has been completed, and is now
ready for City Council acceptance. Phase 2 of the project, the Picnic Shelter Renovation, has
been budgeted but is not yet complete and is not included in this Notice of Completion.
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommend the City Council:
1. Adopt Resolution No. 26-21 accepting the Camino Real Park Phase 1 Playground
Renovation, and
2. Authorize the City Clerk to file the Notice of Completion with the County Recorder's
office for Phase 1 only.
FISCAL IMPACT:
On November 4, 2025, the City Council authorized an appropriation in the FY 2025/2026
Capital Improvement Program from the Park Development Fund in the amount of $ 1,000,000
for the Camino Real Playground and Picnic Shelter Renovation project (CIP No. 20096)
which consists of two separate phases under distinct contracts.
Project allocations included:
• Phase 1 Playground - Innovative Playgrounds................................$486,979.04
• Phase 2 Picnic Shelter - Icon Shelter Systems...............................$421,864.76
• Total Contract Expenditures.................................................... $908,843.80

The final cost of the playground renovation contract was $486,979.04, with no change orders
under the original scope of work.
Phase 2 (Picnic Shelter Renovation) is currently in progress and will be presented to City
Council for acceptance at a later date.
CORRELATION TO THE STRATEGIC PLAN:
This project advances Goal B, Public Safety and Protection of Assets, Strategy 5a - by
ensuring continuous maintenance and improvement of park facilities.
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION:
On November 4, 2025, the City Council authorized the purchase and installation of a
custom playground utilizing the cooperative government purchasing program, Sourcewell,
with an award of a construction contract to Innovative Playgrounds Co., Inc. The project
scope included the demolition of the existing playground and installation of the new custom
playground.
The new playground features a large, multi -level playground structure with integrated
shade pieces, three slides, and an inclusive spinner and double bay swings. In addition,
two notable features include the "MOVMNT"® inclusive electronic game system, an
interactive experience designed to promote exercise and social skills, and the "360 Loop®
Slide" that combines a transfer station, climber and slide in a loop for children of all abilities.
Construction was completed on April 17, 2026, and the project is now ready for City Council
acceptance.

RESOLUTION NO. 26-21
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN,
CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING THE WORKS OF IMPROVEMENT AND
AUTHORIZING THE RECORDATION OF THE NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR
THE CAMINO REAL PARK PLAYGROUND (CIP NO. 20096)
WHEREAS, Innovative Playgrounds Co., Inc. having a contract with the City of
Tustin to construct the hereinafter described public works and improvement as the first
phase of the project; and
WHEREAS, the Project Manager has duly certified to the construction and
completion of said public improvement hereinafter mentioned in a manner satisfactory
to the City Council of the City of Tustin; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that said contractor has completed said public
improvement hereinafter more particularly described in accordance with the provisions
of the contract documents and the Notice of Completion, and acceptance of said public
work and improvement should be filed and payment of the balance due said contractor
authorized in accordance with the contract documents;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Tustin
that said public work and improvement be accepted, and the same is hereby accepted.
Said public work and improvement is more particularly described as follows:
CAMINO REAL PARK PLAYGROUND RENOVATION
CIP No. 20096
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Engineer of the City of Tustin is
hereby authorized to execute and file a Notice of Completion for the acceptance of said
public works and improvement described herein as required by law.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Tustin held on the 5th day of May 2026.
