Start Date: Tuesday, November 7, 2023
RESIDENTIAL UNVERIFIED DEBRIS INVESTIGATION AND MITIGATION:
Crews continue to investigate and mitigate unverified reports of debris related to the hangar fire in the
immediate area surrounding the hangar. On Wednesday, Certified Asbestos Consultant's (CACs) and Asbestos
mitigation contractors started exterior (front and back yard) inspections within the residential communities
closest to the hangar. These teams are inspecting the unverified reports and mitigating any identified potentially
hazardous debris items. This debris is unverified until laboratory testing confirms what it contains. The resident
will be notified if any of this material is confirmed to contain asbestos or other potentially hazardous material
associated with the fire. We will continue utilizing our residential inspection program to investigate every
unverified debris report throughout the impacted area. If you believe you have debris related to the incident,
please report any expected debris using our debris reporting portal on our webpage at Tustinca.org or call 714-
426-2444. Crews will leave a flyer at your door with information and a QR code to make a future appointment
if they come through your neighborhood and you are not home. In addition to the immediate neighborhoods,
crews are also clearing remaining open space areas, including around the hangar itself. Over 460 crew
members on site are working to clear all debris from the fire.
ROADS REOPENING: As progress is being made to finalize mitigation in roads and right-of-way areas,
access road closed during the incident are beginning to open up again. One major reopening is Valencia
Avenue, between Tustin Ranch Road and Red Hill Avenue.
AIR MONITORING INFORMATION: Air monitoring and sampling locations have been set up surrounding
the North Hangar Fire incident to provide the Incident Management Team real-time information on Particulate
Matter (PM) in the air. While the units are in place, a graph showing the average reading for the last 24 hours
has been provided for the public's reference. This graph can be accessed from the Hangar Incident website
located at https://tustinca.org.
N95 MASK AVAILABILITY: The City of Tustin has procured N95 masks. These masks will be available at
the Columbus Tustin Recreation Center, located at 17522 Beneta Way (Cross streets of Prospect & Beneta).
This location will be open throughout the weekend from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
