SUBJECT: CITY COUNCIL LIAISONS TO TUSTIN UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
SUMMARY:
The Mayor appoints those members of the City Council who will represent the City as
liaisons or who will serve on various Regional committees and Mayor -appointed Ad Hoc
committees. The proposed City Councilmember liaison designees to Tustin Unified School
District are the Mayor and Mayor Pro.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council designate the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tern as the City's liaisons to
the Tustin Unified School District.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with this item.
CORRELATION TO THE STRATEGIC PLAN:
The Mayoral designation of liaisons to the Tustin Unified School District contribute to the
fulfillment of the City's Strategic Plan Goal D: Strong Community and Regional
Relationships. Specifically, this item implements Strategy 2, which is to enhance
collaborative efforts with agencies within Tustin on issues of mutual interest and concern,
such as strengthening collaborations with the school district.
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION:
Pursuant to Government Code Section 40605, in general law cities like Tustin, where the
office of the mayor is an elective office, "the mayor, with the approval of the city council,
shall make all appointments to boards, commissions, and committees unless otherwise
specifically provided by statute."

Mayor Lumbard has requested that this item be placed on the agenda to confirm
designation of the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tern as liaisons to the Tustin Unified School
District.
