HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 83-01 RESOLUTION NO. 83-1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING COUNCILMEMBER MONTHLY EXPENSE ACCOUNTS. WHEREAS, each Councilmember experiences monthly costs for transpor- tation, meals, telephone, and other miscellaneous expenditures directly rela- ted to the performance of their public duties; and WHEREAS, Councilmember monthly expense allowances have not increased since March 2, 1981, approx, imately twenty-two ( 22 ) months; and WHEREAS, during that twenty-two month time-period the Consumer Price Index has risen, Tustin's population has increased, and the City's area has expanded, thereby creating larger demands upon a Councilmember's financial resources, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Tustin, California, does hereby determine that each member of the City Council is expending in excess of Two Hundred and Twenty-Five Dollars per month for expenses related to the performance of their elected official duties; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that in lieu of filing individual expense claims for reimbursements from. petty cash, the Mayor is authorized payment of a fixed sum of Two Hundred Twenty-Five Dollars ($225) per month, and each' COuncilmember is authorized payment of a fixed, sum of One Hundred Seventy-Five Dollars '($'175.00) per month; and · BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the provisions contained in this Reso- lution shall be effective as of January 1, 1983, and after each Councilmember files with the Finance Department an appropriate statement affirming said expenses and requesting such reimbursement. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Coun- cil of the City of Tustin, California, held on the 3rd day of January, 1983.
