HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 96-29 RESOLUTION NO. 96-29 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE 3 CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING THE ADOPTION AND ENACTMENT OF AB 2736 · 4 AMENDING REDEVELOPMENT LAW TO ASSIST REUSE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AT s CLOSING MILITARY INSTALLATIONS 6 The City Council of the City of Tustin, California, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE as follows: 7 WHEREAS, the military base redevelopment (MBR) section of the Community 8 Redevelopment Law (CRL) was enacted in 1993 to facilitate reuse and economic development at closing military installations in California; and 9 WHEREAS, severe limitations in the enacted provisions prevented the use of the lo MBR by agencies interested in the use ofredevelopment for installations closing in their jurisdictions; and 11 WHEREAS, Assemblyman Weggeland has drafted Assembly Bill 2736 to amend ~.2 the MBR to eliminate these limitations and has asked for input from affected communities; and 13 WHEREAS, the City council has considered the benefits of Assembly Bill 2736 ~.4 at a public meeting held on April 1, 1996; is NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council: ~6 1. Supports the passage of Assembly Bill 2736 to further the reuse and economic development efforts at closing military bases throughout ~_7 California; and 18 2.
