MAIN STREET, AS A HISTORIC BUILDING WHEREAS' 1. The City Council has adopted criteria for the establishment of hi stori c bui 1 di rigs ( Resol uti on 81-33). 2. The City Council, by adoption of Specific Plan No. 1, has stated encouragement of the renovation of existing victorian and western style buildings in the E1 Camino Real area, (Secti on G.4, Ordinance 510). 3. The owner of the Steven' s House, Gfeller Development Company, Inc., submitted a proper request to have the house considered as a historic building. 4. That the City Council finds that the Steven's House should be designated as a historic building due to it's unique and irreplaceable value to the community based upon the following consi derati ons- a. That the structure was erected by one of Tustins leading .... pioneer citizens, Sherman Stevens, in 1887. b. That the structure was recognized to be of historic and architectural significance by the Tustin Area Bi-Centennial Foundation in the publications ("Tustin Heritage Walk" and "Tustin Tintypes". ) c. That the structure exemplifies the cultural, social and historic heritage of Tustin and portrays a era of history characterized by it's distinctive Victorian style. The City Council of the City of Tustin does hereby resolve that the Steven's House located at 228 W. Main Street (Lot 1, Tract 10979) is declared to be a building of historic significance to the community subject to thefollowing condition' 1. "That the conditions, covenants, and restrictions for the approved office development on the site shall contain a maintenance program for the continued up keep of the hi stori c bui 1 ding". 2.
