A-RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING
THE SAN ONOFRE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION
WHEREAS, the Tustin City Council is vitally interested in the needs
of Southern California businessmen and the economic, environmental, and social
well-being of Orange County; and
WHEREAS, the adequate future energy supplies for Southern California
and diminished dependence on unpredictable supplies of foreign-controlled oil
will require increasing dependence on multiple sources such as solar, geother-
mal, wind, coal, and nuclear energy resources; and '
WHEREAS, of the already developed sources of bulk energy, only
nuclear energy has the capability of being economically and reliably utilized
to a far greater extent than other energy sources during the current decade
and, therefore, is recognized as a most important element to insure the near
future energy supplies of Southern California; and
WHEREAS, regulatory delays in the siting and licensing of critical
electrical generating facilities are costly to all consumers, threaten a
healthy and productive economy, and necessitate a greater dependence upon
foreign oil supplies,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of .......
Tustin as follows:
1. That the City Council of the City of Tustin supports the licens-

ing of Units 2 and 3 of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station;
2. That-the City Council of the City of Tustin supports continued
development of other alternate energy sources such as solar, geothermal, wind,
and coal; and
3. That the City Council of the City of Tustin suD. ports the con-
tinued commitment to energy conservation and proper energy management to maxi-
mize utilization of domestic energy sources and reduce waste.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting 'of the City Council of the
City of Tustin, California, held on the 18th day of May, 1981
