HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 81-219 18 $0 RESOLUTION NO. 81 - 21 A RESOLUTICN OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING COUNCIL MEMBER MONTHLY EXPENSE ACCOUNTS. WHEREAS, each Councilme~rber experiences monthly costs for transportation, meals, telephone, and other miscellaneous expenaitures directly related to the perforn~ce of ti%eir public duties; and WHERE~, Councilmelrber monthly expense allowances have not increased since September 11, 1978, spanning a 2 1/2 year timeperiod; an~ WHERe, during that same 30 month timePerio~ the Consumer Price Index has risen Dy 31%, %~stin's population has increased by 19~ an~ the City's area has expanded by 42%, thereby creating larger demands 'upon a Councilmember ' s financial resources; NOW, TH~FORE, BE IT' RESOLVEI) that the City Council of tile City o~' Tustin, California does hereby dete~nine that eac~ member of the City Council is expending in excess of $200.00 per ~ontn for exD~nses related to the performanoe of their elected official duties; and BE IT FURfPHER RESOLVED, that in lieu of filing indiviGual expense· claims for reimoursem~nt from petty cash, the 5'~ayor is authorize~ palm~ent of a fixed sum of Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) per month, ar~ eac~ Counciln~er is authorized payment of a fixed sum of One Hundred Fifty Dollars ($ ~ 50.00) per month; and BE ~ F~q~JIiER RESOLVED, that the provisions containe~ ~ this' Resolution ~nali be effective as of ~arch 1, 1981, and after each Council~.~mber files with the Finance Department an appropriate statement affirming said e ~xpenses and requesting such reimbursement.
