PRESIDENT BUSH REGARDING THE TERRORIST ATTACKS OF
SEPTEMBER 11, 2001

Councilmember Kawashima requested this item be agendized.
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt the following Resolution No. 01-100 supporting the actions taken regarding the
terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, IN SUPPORT OF ACTIONS TAKEN BY PRESIDENT
BUSH REGARDING THE TERRORIST ATTACKS OF SEPTEMBER 11, 2001.
BACKGROUND
Councilmember Kawashima requested the City. Council adopt a resolution supporting
actions taken by President Bush regarding the terrorist attacks on New York City,
Washington, D.C., and Pennyslvania.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY.OF TUSTIN,
CALIFORNIA, IN SUPPORT OF ACTIONS TAKEN BY PRESIDENT
BUSH REGARDING THE TERRORIST ATTACKS OF SEPTEMBER 11,
2001
WHEREAS, our Country suffered terrorist attacks on New York City, Washington,
D.C., and Pennsylvania, on Tuesday, September 11, 2001; and
WHEREAS, these horrific acts of terrorism on America have shocked and
saddened all of us; and
WHEREAS, this City Council, on behalf of all citizens of Tustin, Wish to express
its sympathy to all those affected by the unspeakable evil of September 11, 2001.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of
Tustin, that we express the City's heartfelt condolences to the people of New York City,
Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania and all of thoSe affected by the horrors of September
11,2001. Our hearts-go out to each one of them; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Council fully supports and is united
behind the President and the Congress of the United States as they deal with this crisis;
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Tustin residents should come together and
redouble their efforts to mutual respect, tolerance, and kindness toward people of all
nationalities and backgrounds that we come in contact with every day. It is urged-that
Tustin residents reject any effort to divide us by nationality or country of origin during
this crisis and to recognize, first and foremost, our bond as Americans; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that every citizen is urged to demonstrate our
Country's resolve and solidarity by flying the American flag at their home or business as
an expression of both our sympathy, our strength, and our passionate commitment to
stand together as Americans in this time of national crisis.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Tustin, California, held the 15th day of October 2001.
