HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 79-16!8~ 19 20 21 25 26 27 29 RESOLUTION NO. 79-16 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIH REQUESTING THAT THE STATE LEGISLATURE ADOPT LEGISLATION CREATING A NEW STATE HIGHWAY DISTRICT CONSISTING SOLELY OF ORANGE COUNTY WHEREAS, the County of Orange is presently included within State Highway District and State Transportation District 7, which also includes Los Angeles and Ventura Counties; and WHEREAS, the placement of California's two most populous counties ~,,~ ~he~ same CalTrans Distric*~ has caus~d~ severe financial hardships for Orange County; and · ~,:, approximately 8 percent of all the oeool~ within ~ne S'ag'~ of California reside within the County of Orange and contribute a l i::<e pct.-eh-age of all ti~e gas tax funds collected; and WHEREAS, only t.6 percent of the monies proposed for State hi g'.,.~cy c'~,~,s'-ruction are within Orange County; and WHEREAS, this obvious inequity could be remedied by the format!on ~]= a new CaITrans District which is contiguous with the ~= ~n ~ Court · bo un ;.!.~ r i .e s .~.~ ~. ~ g~'fy, NOW, THEREFORE, BE iT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City ~, T,:s n that the 1979 State Legislature is hereby requested to adop.~ legislation creating a new State highway district consisting solely of OFan,~e County, with the mrovision that such district shall henceforth receive an appropriate share of all funds to be expended for the construction, maintenance and operation of State highways within the ~unty of Orange; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all members of the State Legislature representing the County of Orange are hereby requested to co-sponsor legislation creating such a new State highway district.
