A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING THE COUNTYWIDE
INTEGRATED WASTE .MANAGEMENT PLAN AND APPROVING ITS
4 SUBMISSION TO THE CALIFORNIA INTEGRATED WASTE
MANAGEMENT BOARD FOR CONSIDERATION OF FINAL
5 APPROVAL
6 The City Council of the City of Tustin does hereby resolve as
follows:

WHEREAS, Public Resources Code (PRC) Sections 40900 et
8 seq. describe the requirements to be met by cities and
counties when developing and implementing integrated waste
9 management plans; and
10 WHEREAS, PRC Sections 41750 through 41770 require each
County to prepare a Countywide Integrated Waste Management
11 Plan (CIWMP) that identifies the significant waste management
issues; and
12
WHEREAS, the purpose of the plan is to identify specific
13 actions that must be taken by~ocal jurisdictions to implement
programs and activities designed to meet the goals of the
14 California Integrated Waste Management Act of 1989; and
15 WHEREAS, the CIWMP is a comprehensive plan developed to
address the State's hierarchy of solid waste management that
16 emphasizes source reduction, reuse, recycling, and
environmentally safe landfill disposal; and
17
WHEREAS, the CIWMP is comprised of a Summary Plan that
18 describes programs found in the City of Tustin Source
Reduction and Recycling Element and Household Hazardous Waste
19 Element; and
20 WHEREAS, the CIWMP also contains a Siting Element that
will guide the development of the landfill site selection
21 process that will assist Orange County in identifying long-
term disposal needs for its residents; and
22
WHEREAS, the CIWMP was approved by the Waste Management
23 Commission/Local Task Force on March 9, 1995 and the Orange
County Board of Supervisors on June 20, 1995; and
24
WHEREAS, Public Resources Code Section 18783 requires
25 that cities adopt the CIWMP by resolution; and
26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of
the City of Tustin adopts the Countywide Integrated Waste
27 Management Plan and approves it submission to the California
Integrated Waste Management Board for considerati6n of final
28 approval.
