HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 1121 (1994)1 ORDINANCE NO. 1121 2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE 3 CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SPECIFIED SECTIONS OF THE TUSTIN CITY 4 CODE TO PERMIT DOGS IN PARKS UNDER SPECIFIED CONDITIONS 5 6 The City Council of the City of Tustin hereby ordains as follows: 7 Section 1: Article 4, Chapter 2, Part 2 of the Tustin 8 City Code is hereby amended as follows: 9 A. Section 4225 entitled "Dogs Within Parks" is deleted in its entirety and replaced with the following: 10 "4225 Animals Within Parks 11 (a) No person shall bring into any park any 12 animal, reptile or fowl of any kind, unless such animal is, at all times, 13 physically restrained and controlled by leash, tether, cage or other device. Nor 14 shall any person bring into any public park any animal that constitutes a safety 15 hazard or detriment to the enjoyment of the area by the public. 16 (b) It shall be the responsibility of any 17 person having charge of any such animal to remove any defecation emanating from 18 the animal and to dispose of same in a sanitary manner. 19 (c) Animals are not permitted in areas of 20 parks which are delineated by playground equipment, sandboxes or recreational 21 court facilities specifically designed for such sports as basketball, handball, 22 tennis or volleyball. _ 23 (d) The provisions. of this Section shall not apply to the use of seeing eye dogs by 24 the visually handicapped, provided that the dog is at all times kept under 25 control and does not constitute a danger to others. (e) This Section shall not prevent the City 27 or its lessees from holding public events in City parks in which animals 1 Ordinance Noo 1121 Page 2 3 participate or from completely prohibiting animals in parks where 4 appropriate signs are posted. Upon obtaining a permit from the City, animals 5 may be brought into parks for the purpose of animal shows, exhibits, fairs and the 6 like.
