HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 1009 (1988) 1 ORDINANCE NO. 1009 2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, 3 ADDING PART V, CONSISTING OF SECTIONS 1551 THROUGH 1557, TO 4 CHAPTER 5 OF ARTICLE I OF THE TUSTIN CITY CODE TO ESTABLISH A PARKS AND 5 RECREATION COMMISSION The City Council of the City of Tustin does ordain as 7 follows: 8 Section 1: 9 Part V, consisting of Sections 1551 through 1557, is hereby added to Chapter 5 of Article I of the Tustin City 10 Code to read as follows: II "PART V PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION 12 1551. COMMISSION ESTABLISHED 13 There is hereby established the Parks and Recreation Commission of the City of Tustin 14 with the.compensation~ jurisdiction, duties, 15~ terms of office and other characteristics as specified herein. 16 1552. MEMBERS The Parks.and Recreation Commission shall 18 consist of seven (7) members who shall be residents of the City during all times they 19 hold office. 20 1553. APPOINTMENT AND TERMS 2] Members of the Parks and Recreation Commission shall be appointed by the City 22 Council. 23 Three (3) of the first members of the Parks and Recreation Commission shall serve 24 from the time of their appointment until July 1, 1989, and four (4) of the first members of 25 the Parks and Recreation Commission shall serve from the time of their appointment until 28 July 1, 1990. Subsequent members of the Commission shall serve for terms of two (2) 27 years ending on July 1 of the appropriate year. The first members of the Commission 28 ] shall draw lots to determine which will serve one (1) year terms and which will serve two 2 (2) year terms. All members of the Commission serve at the pleasure of the City Council, and 3 may be removed by a motion of the City Council, .adopted by at least three (3) 4 affirmative votes. All members of the Commission shall serve until their respective 5 successors are appointed and qualified. -1554. COMPENSATION OF MEMBERS 7 Each of the members of the Parks and Recreation Commission shall receive 8 compensation of Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00) for each meeting attended. 1555. DUTIES The Parks and Recreation Commission shall l] serve as an advisory body to the City Council and the Community Services staff on all ~2 matters relating to parks, park design and development, recreation, and community ~3 services. 1556. MEETINGS ~5 At its first meeting, the Parks and Recreation Commission shall establish, by ~6 resolution, the time and place of subsequent regular meetings which shall be held not less J7 than once every three (3) months. The Parks and Recreation Commission may meet at such ]8 other times and places' as hereafter may be determined from time to time by the Commission ~9 to be necessary or convenient. All meetings shall be held in accordance with the Ralph M. 20 Brown Act, Government Code Sections 54950 through 54961. 2] 1557.
